I have only learnt of FOCUS on the recent trip to New Zealand and this is the first time that I have entered a photography competition at this scale. As I nervously went through my spam box, I was super surprised to see the score! With 82 points, my image was in the top 9 of the Silver category (81-87), along with 31/115 other submissions and that meant so much to an amateur like me, especially when the highest score was only 84.33! I didn't expect to win anything, not even a Bronze after seeing other people's entries but I guess sometimes you just gotta let others surprise you. Judges' comments: Most aspects of your entry are excellent, so now is the time to look at the fine detail. Are there any dust spots, sensor noise, oddly coloured areas, strange artefacts etc. Are there highlights or shadows that are out of control (lacking detail). Has some of your dodging and burning (lightening and darkening) been a little sloppy? Take another look at your entry and you should see one or two areas that could be improved. Biggest thanks to the judges (Christian Fletcher, Tony Hewitt & David Oliver) who have gotten through so many entries, giving each of us invaluable feedbacks, and I still can't get over the fact that CF personally looked at and scored my photo :D. Also cheers to the OOAK gang who made this image of mine possible, especially Dani, Niall & Rod who were there with me at the scene of the crime <3!
