This visit to The Red Teapot is a part of my Dumpling Saga. My aim is to visit all of Perth's restaurants that offer different varieties of dumplings on their menus. These visits are unannounced and I do not gain anything from these blog posts, maybe except weight.

1. Boiled pork dumplings (12) $13
2. Boiled beef dumplings (12) $13 3. Boiled seafood & pork dumplings (12) $14 4. Steamed Shanghai pork dumplings (6) $10 Trivia: 42 dumplings | $50 | lunch | + Ian
When Ian and I first arrived at the restaurant there was only 1 other customer in store. The place had a cozy vibe despite and the waitress made us feel welcome straight away. There were only 4 choices of steamed/boiled dumplings to choose from so it made it easy to decide what we wanted. Our dumplings were ready pretty quickly and the pork dumplings came out after 12 minutes.
- FINAL RATING: 4.75 / 10 -
AVG PRICE: $1.19 / dumpling There was nothing about this restaurant that stood out to really guarantee a return, in terms of dumplings. Other items on the menu might be more interesting though and I wouldn't rule out that possibility.

2. Boiled pork & cabbage dumplings (15) $10 Trivia: 21 dumplings | $20 | lunch | + Ian
Ian and I visited this restaurant a few years back and it wasn't a great experience. We ordered a serve of steamed Shanghai pork dumplings but had to wait for 25 minutes and the restaurant was empty. When we asked the waitress she said that the kitchen staff needed time to cook them. Or more like they just forgot about our order because we received our food 5 minutes after that. Whatever the reason was, waiting for 25 minutes for dumplings was just unacceptable. You can see why we were reluctant to come back this time but for the sake of research, we made another visit and boy, weren't we in for a surprise! Not a good one unfortunately.
Upon entering the restaurant, we could see the difference in the interior, it looked newer, more spacious and a lot more modern. There was 1 other customer having lunch, and a waitstaff checking his phone behind the counter. He didn't notice us until we approached him at the counter asking for the menu. Not such a good first impression. We proceeded to order some dumplings and thankfully it only took around 10 minutes this time for the whole lot.

AVG PRICE: 95c / dumpling The customer service was definitely a let-down, which we already didn't expect much from a Chinese restaurant in the first place, especially when the waiter had no customer awareness. The dumplings did not taste bad and we didn't have to wait a long time for them but the fact that they weren't home-made just pushed us away the 2nd time. Certainly won't be back for frozen dumplings that we can just buy from the shops and steam ourselves at home.
